Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority was established at Texas A&M University by five women who saw a need to promote friendship, diversity, and cultural awareness at the university and in the surrounding community. They envisioned an organization where women of all cultures would feel welcome, create lasting friendships, and educate and serve the community.

The founding mothers are Rena Kharbat, Adrienne Magirl, Jetje Brewton, Lesliam Quiros, and Jaime Slaughter. Being African American, Dutch, Irish/Mexican, Palestinian, and Puerto Rican, the founding mothers wanted to show the world that it was their differences that had brought them together and made them stronger.
